‘Artichoke Embroidery' is an exquisite embroidered silk. Inspired by Morris' own design ‘Artichoke' from 1877, it has repeating patterns of large traditional motifs, illustrating his preoccupation and love of near Eastern and Italian woven silks and velvets. Morris studied a number of these at the South Kensington Museum, now the Victoria & Albert Museum. Retaining the authenticity and beauty of the original, it is now available in four stunning colourways and is recommended for curtains.

Featuring the same glorious, boldly scaled artichoke heads of J.H. Dearle's 1898 original, this highly ornamental design receives some of the richest colour treatment of any Morris & Co. velvet. Printed at our Grade II listed factory in Lancashire, a darkly dyed backdrop dramatically foregrounds Dearle's virile Artichoke pattern. Ideal for use in upholstery and drapery.

Inspired by an archive pattern book with Bachelors Button on the cover, were proud to say this design was the catalyst for Ben Pentreaths Queen Square Collection. Given a modern twist and an undeniable vibrancy, dramatic swirling leaves painted in the style of a medieval fresco coil amongst this show stopper of a fabric.

Bamboo has been adapted from a design by E.W. Godwin of 1872.  Like Morris Godwin was dedicated to beautifying the home and Oscar Wilde referred to him as One of the most artistic spirits of this century in England. Godwin was highly influenced by Japanese design and often used bamboo motifs in his work. Originally block printed by Jeffrey & Co. samples of the wallpaper can be found in the Morris & Co. Archive. This adaptation is taken from the original hand-painted watercolour housed in the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Morris & Co. are thrilled to re-introduce Borage, an 1883 design by William Morris. Originally conceived as a furnishing fabric, Borage's spirited floral pattern and multiple axes of symmetry bring a lively point of visual interest to any furniture item. Beloved by bees and other pollinators, Borage is a perfect example of William Morris drawing ideas about ornamenting interiors from the natural world.

Borage re-enters the Morris & Co. range due to the collaboration collection with Emery Walker's House, the historic home of noted typographer and close friend of William Morris. Walker, dutiful to the design ideas of his friend William Morris, has used Borage as a furnishing fabric in his drawing room to great effect.

The definition of a bower, a pleasant, shady place under trees or climbing plants in a garden or forest, aptly describes this upliftingly rich design. Registered as a William Morris pattern in 1877, Bower depicts a floral wonderland of foliage and flowers ripe with life. The Bough's Green/Rose colourway is the closest to the joyous original, whilst Indigo and Barbed Berry/Indigo offer moodier and cooler hues respectively with Herball/Weld being a happy mid-tone.

Taken from our archive this design was originally a ceiling paper by Arts and Crafts designer Andrew Brophy (1844-1912). We've recreated the structure of the trellis and added flowers and leaves from one of May Morris's authentic designs to create Brophy Trellis an incredibly usable embroidery which pairs beautifully with other Morris & Co. fabrics and wallpapers. Chrysanthemum Toile has been adapted from a wallpaper sample produced by Jeffrey & Co. in 1886 which imitated the fashionable but expensive gilded embossed leather hangings imported from Japan at that time. The pattern itself is an outline of the multicoloured wallpaper Chrysanthemum designed by Morris in 1877.

Hand-knotted finishes to the floral detailing couple with chunky stitching help to convey a crafted, tactile feel on a 100% linen base cloth. What makes Daisy so iconic are the sprays of floral miniatures inspired by William Morris's visits to the British Museum's illuminated manuscripts, creating a design which looks back on centuries of craftwork.

Today's Daisy Embroidery takes as its source the Daisy wallpaper featured in the Arts & Crafts home of noted typographer, book printer and friend of Morris, Sir Emery Walker.

William Morris designed Bird in 1878 to adorn the walls of his own drawing room in Kelmscott House. Brer Rabbit is taken from a 17th century Italian silk and Morris first registered the design in 1882. Named after the Uncle Remus childrens books popular at the time this fabric design was originally indigo discharge printed. Today the Morris studio have tried to replicate the mottled appearance of this earlier method using modern printing processes. Available in wallpaper in co-ordinating colours.

Just like a rekindled love affair, Ben discovered this iconic print stowed away in our archive. Instantly mesmerised, he recoloured and updated Compton to include cheerful daffodil yellows and vibrant pops of indigo blue, poppy red and sunset orange.

Ben Pentreath has taken the distinctive daffodils that grace this design and pumped up the colour! Created by John Henry Dearle c.1891, the original drawing survives and can be seen at the William Morris Gallery in London. Scaled down slightly and produced on a cotton/linen cloth, the Dark Olive colourway is utterly magical with its bright, almost electric blue ground and eye-catching teal detail. Archive is a much softer choice, retaining its original colours, but with a slightly intensified vibrancy.

The delicately embroidered stripe design of this striking kilim lends to a room a diversity of pattern as well as added depth and a tactile finish. Dorothy's Kilim draws from the original found in the bedroom of Dorothy Walker, the well-travelled daughter of Sir Emery (noted typographer and close friend of William Morris's). This colourful kilim is decorated in the Persian style and features geometric motifs typical of kilims from the old Persian Empire — Turkey and Turkic states.

A classic Morris pattern originally designed as a wallpaper in 1864 Fruit has been carefully adapted into a luxurious velvet seen here for the first time. Reproduced in a variety of authentic colourways Fruit Velvet also features the magnificent contemporary tones of Walnut and Bullrush.

The strong diagonal arrangement of J.H. Dearles Golden Lily (1899) gives structure to the entwining lily stems and tendrils. One of Morris & Co.s greatest legacies Golden Lily is available in a stricking colourway.

Based on an elaborately woven silk velvet brocade designed and produced by Morris in 1884 Granada incorporates pomegranate motifs and ornate trellis reminiscent of the mediaeval textiles which inspired the design. Today Granada is printed on a heavy textured linen to give an antiqued effect. Granada wallpaper available in the Wallpaper Compendium II has been inspired by the fabric and incorporates a trellis design.

The recurring theme of the vine and grapes appears on this linen-blend fabric and is reminiscent of the illustrations used in the borders of Morriss printed manuscripts. This design is available in diverse and versatile colourways and can be used to bring texture and pattern into a room that is predominantly neutral.

First produced in 1876 Honeysuckle & Tulip was an early Morris fabric design depicting entwined foliage and flower motifs in a mirrored pattern repeat. The effect is of a trellis circling large multi petalled tulips and stylised honeysuckle. Best appreciated in a large expanse this beautiful design comes in a range of stunning colours.
